Video analysis is one of the more powerful ways to really understand what is happening in your body while swimming. Not only do we see what is happening in your moving body parts’ relationship to one another and your body’s relationship to the water, we see clues as to what is happening inside your body as well, the strengths and weaknesses.

Description

Video analysis is one of the more powerful ways to really understand what is happening in your body while swimming. Not only do we see what is happening in your moving body parts’ relationship to one another and your body’s relationship to the water, we see clues as to what is happening inside your body as well, the strengths and weaknesses.

From new to advanced swimmers – with our orderly, principle based view of your swimming we give you an organized overall assessment of your strong features and your opportunities for improvement and then point out those that are of the highest priority. You will receive an understanding for what to work on first, to set the stage for subsequent improvements that will be dependent on those. We will give you a personalized prescription for how to work on those improvements and guidance in how to practice and make them stick.

One version of the analysis – usually your first, or after a long time away – is a deep, thorough look at the whole picture, and look for deeper or more complex problems, then receive an logical approach to solving those.

Another version is to come in for a check up or review on specific parts to see how you have made progress in the skill projects you’ve been working on, and where you need more help.

The standard video analysis package includes a recorded analysis of your stroke (audio and markup of your video on screen), recommendations for which skills to develop and guidance on how to practice those skills, and an email exchange to answer any questions you may have about the analysis and guidance.

The premium video analysis package includes the features of the standard package and a 30-minute follow-up video chat.

Step 1

Contact Coach Tracey to schedule your video analysis session.

Step 2

You will capture and deliver the video to your coach according to the following instructions…

Video Shoot Standards

Please aim for these standards as you shoot your video:

  • Take some practice shots first to make sure you get the intended view.
  • Capture the full body in the video frame.
  • Keep the camera very stable.
  • Keep lighting behind the camera so that swimmer is illuminated (rather than put into silhouette). Have camera between swimmer and windows with outside light, or underwater lights.
  • Capture 8 to 12 whole strokes in sequence for each view we ask for.
  • Swim with the stroke intensity that matches the way you normally swim.

Angles To Capture

Most important viewpoints to shoot:

  • Underwater side view
  • Surface side view
  • Underwater front view
  • Surface front view

Video Format

If possible, please save your video to .mov or .mp4 file format at 720p (1280px ×720px) or less size.

Labeling The Files

Please follow this labeling format example:

  • [insert your name] underwater side view.mp4
  • [insert your name] surface side view. mp4
  • [insert your name] surface front view.mp4
  • [insert your name] underwater front view.mp4
